New York, New York!

Sonya has told me that she will not come with me on holiday this year, and the Maldives trip can be cancelled as far as she is concerned. She would rather spend some time with her father in Favignana, Sicily. Fair enough, she is free to do whatever she wants. So, I decided to join Flavio for a two-week holiday in New York! Ok, the guy is one of the few stupid people going on vacation in New York at the height of Summer, but frankly, I would rather go there than stay here in Rome or try to organise a full vacation. Oh, by the way, my car has gone… I parked it somewhere I should not have done, and they took it away, the Roman traffic wards. I hope to get it back by tomorrow. It would be nice to show it to the hot chick in the gym… Simona… I informed Flavio about the decision to join him in New York, and he sounded rather cold and didn’t even ask me what happened to my previous plans, Sonya and so on. Sometimes I got the impression he knows everything about me and he needs not asking. Or, perhaps, he thinks he knows.

When we were kids, he went through a period he thought he was psychic. He could foresee the future, read palms, cards and freak the shit out of the girls, telling them all sorts of tragedies—a kind of Cassandra, except that he never got them right except once. We went to a Carnival party, and he noticed that a friend of ours was missing and he started crying, telling everyone that she was dead. People laughed at him, I was scared, I have to admit because I knew he was strange but not that strange. I called Anna’s home, and nobody was there. It took two days to know that Anna had entered a coma, and Flavio even managed to tell us the exact moment she died.

This made his life in the school a bit more complicated as people thought he was a bad luck carrier, but some girls wanted him to join a club, a sort of Satanist group. He joined, and he became a real weirdo. School results were not that great; all he was doing was talking about death, wars and stuff like that. By the time he joined this group and the time he managed to get out of it thanks to the intervention of his mother and a catholic priest friend of his father, he had lost a lot of weight but his psyche was not as it was. I never knew what they did to him or what he did to the others, but, for sure, Flavio was lost, and his parents decided that he had to go to study in the US. I think he loved the idea, but he hated being there. He claims that they were bullying him for his weight, his glasses and the fact that he used to accompany himself only with the ugliest girls in the college.

When he came back he was another man, a much better person, I have to say. He seemed completely cured and better. Very sharp, very elegant, better looking, more athletic, even if the excess weight has and will always be a problem for him. He had no glasses, he was showing pictures of his girls in unequivocal positions with him… Anyway, I don;t know what happened to him in America either.

He can be a riddle.

So, we have been on holidays before and he is good company. I am sure we will enjoy the States this year. 2 weeks between NYC and Boston.

I have already booked the tickets and rented a car. He doesn’t know, but I changed his hotel booking and took a suite at the Waldorf Astoria.

This is a surprise for him.

Thinking about surprises… He could be cold with me because I told him I booked him for the Pilates classes. Who knows?

No plans for tonight, I will go to eat some meat. I fancy meat after eating only fish for a few days.

Oh! I went back to work; everything was good. Nothing had happened, and they didn’t even realise I was not there. I went for the usual jog session, 10 km today, and left work early.

See you later ragazzi!

Ciaooooo!
