End of holiday

I am nearing the end of my holiday, and I loved it. I had a great time in NYC despite the heat and humidity, a great relaxing time on the coast of Massachusetts, and two great days in Boston. Let me tell you my impressions of these places many years after leaving them and returning.

Boston felt smaller than I remembered, but sharper — brick and intellect and that American seriousness about being "good". The coast of Massachusetts was salt air and long silences; I needed that more than I admitted.

New York at the end of summer is still a furnace, but it's my furnace, in a way. I walked until my feet hurt and ate things I shouldn't eat and pretended I wasn't thinking about Rome on every corner.

I'll write more when I'm back in a rhythm. For now: tired, grateful, already nostalgic for the version of me who could still pretend this was simple.
